Hounds by Universal Thee | Track Review

WHEN: New Album – 19.02
WHERE: Eventual Heirs

Power pop is a genre that’s not often celebrated as much as it should be but it’s nice to know that Universal Thee are fighting the good fight. In February the five piece will be releasing their second album All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace but until then we have a few weeks to memorise that title while also enjoying the sounds of their latest single Hounds.

A crunchy guitar riff kicks off the track before the rest of the instruments collide some sounds together to form an instrumental that appears to be very upbeat, bright and complimented nicely by some sweet vocals. The duo vocal adds a real togetherness vibe to the track which feels like you’re receiving a cuddle while listening and bobbing along to the cute guitar melodies, which leaves a real nice fuzzy feeling in your tummy.

As well as becoming a source for fuzzy tummies everywhere, Hounds is a delightful song which features great drums, layers upon layers of guitars and a chorus that is undeniably infectious. What’s also to note is that all of these elements are allowed to shine thanks to the high level of the production and the well captured flood of momentum that flows right through our satisfied ear canals, a great tune.
