For The Dales by Oh Sister | Track Review

WHEN: 10.06.2015

Oh Sister is the musical project of singer-songwriter Sarah Berresford and this is her new single called For The Dales. Dale is a name that’s often overlooked by newly made parents, and no one ever really has a best friend called Dale, so it’s nice that there is a song dedicated to every single Dale currently fighting the good fight right now. Dales, you rock.

For The Dales starts off with an eerie instrumental composed purely of vocal harmonies, finger clicks and a drum beat that hits right to the roots. This near-acapella intro is a very unique way to kick off a single and it does succeed at getting the listener to want to hear more. Fortunately the more is also very good as Oh Sister adds in strong guitar chords and subtle, palm muted melodies into the mixture to create something that adds a little extra mystery to the track.

This track has left me wanting to hear more from Oh Sister as Oh The Dales is something that’s very embedded in the shadows but is also something pretty beautiful too. Luckily I won’t have to wait too long as Oh Sister will be releasing her debut EP Watch The Water on August 2nd, and that totally sounds like a plug. Seriously though this song is good, and Oh Sister is also pretty good too.
