Track Review | Bronx Cheerleader – Mad Sam Is Dead

WHEN: 27.01.2015
WHERE: Yummy Recordings

Poor Sam, he went all mad and now he’s dead. Fortunately he does have a band to help announce his death in the most rockin’ way possible in Bronx Cheerleader. Bronx Cheerleader are a band from the same town that produced 3-time Grammy winning polka king Walter Ostanek, which is awesome. They are looking to bring out new album Hell In A Rocket sometime this year, and after listening to Mad Sam Is Dead, I’m excited.

With a level of chillness that could make Brian Jonestown Massacre proud, Bronx Cheerleader deliver a track that’s groovy and does it at its own pace, making for some hot listening. The band combine fierce guitar riffs with psychedelic undertones and smooth ass basslines which help lay down a very solid rhythm section, while some breathy vocals graze on top. Mad Sam Is Dead definitely gets you hot under the collar, and that’s exactly how we like it. It’s very smooth, very seductive and yet there’s a slight hint of slutty there, just like me. It’s a combination of sounds with varying tempos coming together to produce a soundtrack for a steamy evening of hot loving, and that’s very cool to me.

Yeah, really excited for Hell In A Rocket. If the rest of the material on that record ends up being just as hot as Mad Sam Is Dead then I might just have to marry it.
