PEUR – Explosions | Track Review

When: 03.11.14
Where: Ruby Music
Peur are a three piece from Manchester, and this is their new single Explosions, their first on Ruby Music. These guys perform a kind of rock music that definitely puts a stop to those who say that “rock music is dead” by literally throwing riffs at their faces. If you like Biffy Clyro, the heavier and less sappy side of Muse, and Sick Sick Sick by Queens Of The Stone Age then you will definitely like this track.
Explosions kicks off right away with a riff that is very similar to the aforementioned QOTSA song but there’s no problem with that. Peur throw all kinds of volume, battered drums and the kitchen sink into this intro and fortunately this level of intensity carries on through to the end. This track is awesome. It’s like a fireworks show that doesn’t have that one firework that gives up right before it could explode, so it’s like a really good fireworks show. I love the brutality Peur throw into this track, especially against the clean delivery of the vocals. I cannot wait to hear more from this band, simply because I just want them to bash my skull in with this exact formula over and over again. Superb.
