Sweethead – Reverse Exorcism :: Track Review

It seems the desert is rampant with activity again. Since the release of Queens Of The Stone Age’s …Like Clockwork last summer, it seems the other residents of the hazy edge of America are also motivated to get releasing new material this year. There’s already proof of Eagles Of Death Metal working on their new album, but today we have the new single from Sweethead. The project consisting of QOTSA’s Troy Van Leeuwen and his girlfriend Serrina Sims released their debut album way back in 2009, and now look set to release a new EP sometime soon. Reverse Exorcism is the first taste of what’s to come, and it is good.
Complete with low riding basslines that just embed the groove into the listeners’ skin, Reverse Exorcism is a sexy little listen with hints of synths and garage-rock guitar riffs which really drive home the dark, brooding nature of Sweethead’s sound. Considering they’ve been gone for half decade, these guys have certainly not missed a beat with this absolute tune.
The music video features Serrina Sims in barely anything clothing and Jesse Hughes of EODM as a Vicar, which should mean you’ve already checked it out. If not then check it out below, and enjoy. I never thought we’d hear from Sweethead again but I’m glad they’re back, as well as releasing music that kicks ass.
